N1 sees practicing as the most essential element of our program. Each team gets 2 practices a week (days determined by the coach) for the season. We also offer additional skills or conditioning that is optional but essential to your child’s development.
The number of games averages 16-20 per team and is contingent on whether or not your team is selected for league and tournament play, or tournament play only. Skill level and player commitment will be used to determine expectations. This is discussed during the first parent meeting.
Practices are held at our local township schools. Games are held in various locations, depending on the league the team participates in. Being an AAU program, travel is expected, and schedules are posted at tryouts and once selected.
League Games can be played during the week and subject to coaches’ availability. Tournaments are played during the weekends and possibly a holiday. Tournaments require multiple games to be played on a weekend.
Notifications on canceled games/practices will be facilitated by your Coach or N1 Staff member via the app. Coaches and Staff members work to confirm schedules with league and tournament directors prior to notifying parents on the app.
N1 is a Priority 1 Program. Our coaches show complete dedication and commitment to our players and parents. Although we do not discourage players from playing in other sports, we ask that N1 practices and game be prioritized for the season. In order to build the proper discipline and consistency in our players, this is essential for development. If a balance is to be expected, then you MUST discuss this with the Coach. We know the stress this may cause on the player and team, but participating in multiple teams can present challenges and scenarios that we want to avoid. Training elsewhere is encouraged as long as it does not conflict.
Please understand, as your athlete approaches middle school and high school, this will not be allowed. So we do our best to instill a proper level of dedication and commitment early. Its the primary reason we our upfront with scheduling and commitment during tryouts.
